A Valentine bonbon from Devon/Dee.
Will Andrews wishes to escape the craziness of his bohemian family and create some order in his life. Hiding his eccentric theater background and presenting false letters of recommendation, he interviews for a position at a legal aid society. The last thing he expects is to fall hard for his genteel employer, Hugh St. John.
When Hugh needs a secretary, one magnetic candidate draws him. Will Andrews shares his vision for the Society and is also the most attractive man he’s ever met. But Hugh has never even kissed a man and would never throw himself at an employee.
As the pair plans a Valentine charity dinner, they grow ever closer to surrendering to Cupid’s arrow. But when Will’s false credentials and true background are revealed, can Hugh forgive his lies and omissions? Can fragile romance blossom into true love after trust is broken?
Will and the Valentine Saint Victorian Holiday Hearts Book 2 edition by Summer Devon Bonnie Dee Romance eBooks
The second of this flight into the somewhat crazy fancies of members of the Andrews theatrical family of late 19th Century England is a bit of a hoot compared to the first, and also a bit more romantic. That's because both Will Andrews and Hugh St. John are absolutely smitten with each other from the start, and neither the very efficient. experienced, if slightly devious Will, nor his uptight new boss Hugh (still a virgin) know how to deal with it.That they fall into a sweet, amiable friendship and cadence leading up to the major plot device is very nicely done. That plot device, though it comes apart at the seams for both men, does not require a heck of a lot of stitching to get it all mended in the end. Which is good, and keeps the novella very much in line.
This is the second of a three-part series. I urge you to read the first--Will was introduced in that one and Mike, the protagonist of the third, is introduced in this one. I went out and bought Mike's book last night and will read it on the plane, no doubt, because I just can't get enough of the shenanigans of Summer Devon and Bonnie Dee.

Will and the Valentine Saint Victorian Holiday Hearts Book 2 edition by Summer Devon Bonnie Dee Romance eBooks Reviews
Not only was this a great Valentine treat but we also got to see a little glimpse of Christopher and Simon from the authors' Christmas story Simon and the Christmas Spirit. In Will and the Valentine Saint we see Christopher's brother Will trying to find his own slice of happiness in the form of Hugh St. John. Of course, he is only looking for some independence but when he begins working for Hugh, his heart has other plans. A brilliant novella for this holiday series from Devon & Dee that I can't wait to see what else is to come and who's happiness will be next.
I have yet to read anything from Devon & Dee that I haven't loved, and this one is no exception. A wonderful story, and they do such a fine job really putting you in the setting without a bunch of burdensome detail. Love it!
I thought this book was super sweet and I've liked all of the books I've read in this series so far! What was great about this one was it was a bit of a reversal of a trope instead of the main character wanting to step out of his box and be an artist, he wanted to step into a box and be a secretary. I really loved all of the characters and the romance of course. Great read! (note, I have to do my reviews in bulk because I can't type them out on my Paperwhite, so I'm sure I missed many details.)
Will Andrews, while a terrific dancer, is not a gifted actor; and, besides, he wants to escape the precarious lifestyle of his theatre family. To escape his background and get hired in an office, however, he has to fabricate some experience. Unfortunately, his family follows him into his new respectable life and threatens his budding love affair with the aristocratic Hugh St. John, his new boss. Told from the perspective of various members of an extended theatre family in Regency London, this lovely little series revisits the Regency period that Georgette Heyer made popular. However, "the ton" is seen from the outside and with a decided LGBT twist.
This was a more full-bodied story than the Christmas story that was the first release in this series. Will who lost his jobe when Christopher reported the man at the club for cheating at cards had not found another one for a year. Finally resorting to using false letters of recommendation, he gets a job as a secretary of a charity organization to assist poor people to get lawyers. Hugh, the head fo the organization, and Will have an instant attraction to each other. Their story is full of love. Will, who is tring to escape his family life, uses his family to organize a Vaentines Day party for chaity. Hugh is entralled with how Will easily organizes things to make the party a success. You get to catch up with Christopher and Robert and be reintroduced to Mike, the next MC in the third in the series.
The latest in the series of Devon/Dee Victorian love stories involves the Andrews, a family of play actors and their hangers-on, one of whom finds love with the Uranian middle- or upper-class man of his dreams.
Will is different from his siblings and others in that he wants a normal job and no doubt a normal lover. He doesn’t want to be part of the theater crowd, as much as he loves the theater. To get the job he wants he forges a number of references and shows up at Hughes’ door and wows him with his creativity. Since it is Devon/Dee, you know that the relationship is going to be with his male boss. When the two of them put on a marketing luncheon staffed entirely by Andrews family types, it does not turn out to be a disaster. It turns out quite well, actually, and you can hope for the same for these two lovers.
It sure is fun to meet each of the siblings, all of whom are very unique individuals, and how they manage in the world.
I enjoyed Will and the Valentine Saint - it’s a short story, but complete with a Happy for Now ending. I loved the characters and the way their romance developed. Will Andrews is Christopher’s brother from “Simon and the Christmas Spirit” - the first in the Victorian Holiday Hearts series. Christopher and Simon make cameo appearances in this one – the stories are linked, but this one stands on its own.
Will is determined to change his life – he longs for quiet, for an ordinary job, and isn’t afraid of something a bit dull. Hugh St. John has never been loved, and is a lonely, desperate man. Suffering through a miserable childhood, a debilitating stutter, and aloof, uncaring parents, Hugh believes that he will never find love.
When Will Andrews walks into his office and becomes his secretary, Hugh’s life is completely changed. He thinks he can refrain from acting on his attraction for Will, but Hugh is swept away before he knows it. The men resist their love, but Cupid’s arrow finds the mark.
I'm waiting for the next Victorian Holiday Hearts, I'll be sure to pick it up.
