This book was a weird, interesting, fun, mixed read. I really enjoyed it. The closest thing I can compare it to is Don Marquis' Archy the Cockroach, which is also weird, interesting, and fun.
I loved the interview format, and the bits and pieces of poets' and authors' lives that I never knew about. I loved the funny interim pieces with Madame Delatour and the narrator. Although I'd come across and read almost all the authors/poets in the book, I learned something new or amusing about each of them, and I actually found one I now WANT to read!

Oh, and I REALLY appreciate it being set in Sydney, Australia. So few books I read are set in Australia and I love reading the ones that are :)

Interviews With Legendary Writers From Beyond edition by Cathy McGough Reference eBooks Reviews

Cathy did an excellent job transforming the biographies of iconic literary names into an interesting and incredible collection. I really enjoyed reading this! It was a fun read that captured my imagination and held my attention all the way through. Recommended to every bookworm!
A lot of hard work went into this book. I especially liked the Edgar Allen Poe interview. This would be useful for high school students to help them learn about giants if the literary world. Well done.
This book is a delightful primer for any reader interested in getting to know some of the world's greatest English language writers. Full of painstakingly researched historical facts, the humorous delivery and surprising anecdotes kept me turning pages. I was familiar with most of the authors interviewed, but was introduced to several new ones. The samples of work from each author were passionate and upbeat, dispelling any notion that classic literature is boring. Another thing I really appreciated were the physical descriptions of the authors! From Stephen Leacock's humour to the inspiration of Rudyard Kipling, this book was a fabulous read.
I grew up enjoying the heartfelt writings of these poets and authors! Many times have I wished I could have gotten to know them as the people themselves outside their words across paper. Catherine McGough made this happen!

I learned more about Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Twain, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow which are my three main favorite classic authors. I had to fight myself when I had to put this down for work. Pick this book up, Classic Lovers, you won't regret it!
The writer did an incredible amount of research into the lives and writings of eminent poets and writers and presented it in an intelligent way including fictional interviews and engaging collection of writings. The humorous presentation of anecdotes captured my imagination and attention from start to finish. An enjoyable read recommended to classic book lovers.
This is really an interesting book, it is all about imagination and the way it is presented is just great. It is a strange way to put it as a book but it certainly worked very well. It is also a great deal of work, the author must have researched for a lot and it has almost all the great writers of our history. The list of books suggested are also many, the writer must have read them all, and all the quotes from those great writers are perfectly presented here. I personally haven't read many of those books by myself, but it was great to know and if you are a true literary fan, you would definitely love to read this book. Highly recommended!
